Finding the right sportswear for you

The sportswear a woman chooses to wear is a deeply personal decision. There's a lot to take into account. First and foremost, what's your sport? A runner will have different needs than someone who's practising yoga; if you like to mix it up and try different sports, you can either opt for versatile pieces or build up a collection of specialist items. Apart from that, you should think about your personal preferences. Some women prefer to work out in tight-fitting leggings and crop tops; others like loose shorts and baggy T-shirts. The most basic item of sportswear for women is a sports bra. It is essential that yours fits you well; without the right foundation, you'll be deeply uncomfortable when you go to work out. Look at the levels of support. High-impact sports like running will need a very supportive bra, while gentler activities, such as pilates or yoga, won't. High-tech fabrics are the best choices, as they'll wick away your sweat, keeping you dry while you work out in style.

Comfort and style in ladies' sportswear

There are lots of practical considerations to think about when it comes to sportswear for women. One area that's often overlooked is pockets – but, depending on your favourite activity, they can be key! If you're heading out for long-distance runs, look for a pair of shorts or leggings with securely-zipped pockets to hold your keys or phone. Want to look cute working out? Look for fun details and unusual fabrics. The same colour head-to-toe can have too much of a 90s tracksuit look. You can avoid that by wearing, for example, brightly patterned leggings with a solid top. If you're self-conscious about your body, but you love the practicality of leggings, go for black. That will keep your legs looking slim while giving you plenty of room to experiment with brighter colours on your top half. To show off toned arms, look for racer back tops that will leave your shoulders looking fabulous.
