Keep little feet cosy with girls’ slippers
There's nothing like a warm, comfy pair of girls’ slippers to keep your daughter's feet nice and toasty in winter. These cosy shoes should fit well, perhaps with space for a pair of thick socks; if winters are cold where you live, they're the ideal way of making sure her toes stay warm and dry. When you present your daughter with her first pair of slippers, make sure she knows where to wear them! Some slipper boots can be worn for short journeys outside, but most kids’ slippers for girls are strictly indoors only. You might want to store them beside the door and teach her to change out of her outdoor shoes as soon as she gets in, to develop good habits.
Finding the right house shoes
With any style of children's shoe, the first question you should ask is: How do you get them on and off? Girls’ slippers are no different. Some can indeed be slipped on and off, but others may be a bit more complicated. Velcro fastenings are great for little kids, as they are easy to master and help youngsters develop confidence in their own abilities. Some longer slipper boots have ribbed sections to hold them in place. These will keep feet extra warm in winter, but they may be difficult for a young child to put on and take off. Be prepared to offer extra help if you're going to choose these.
Something for girls who love fashion
A plain, boring pair of slippers is no fun! Instead, look for your daughter's favourite colours, and for designs that will amuse her. One common, cute style has the head of an animal on the front of the slippers. Little girls often love these, especially if the animal in question is a personal favourite! You can also look for fun designs like rainbows, butterflies or other cute decals. Some youngsters don't like girly styles, though. Never push your daughter into making fashion choices that go against her personal preferences; instead, look for a different colour or design that she likes more. One thing to bear in mind is that, as your daughter gets older, she may have strong feelings about "childish" designs, and prefer grown-up style girls’ slippers. Never forget to ask her opinion!
