How to wash your underwear

Let’s talk about something that lots of us don’t often talk about — how to take care of your undies and bras the right way so that they last as long as possible. Yes, they require special attention, and there are specific ways you can wash your undergarments to get them completely clean and extend their lifespan.

Separate your laundry correctly

Take some time to sort out your underwear and separate it from the rest of the clothes you plan to wash, as they generally should be washed at different temperatures. Then sort your underwear by color: dark go with dark, colored go with colored, and white go with white.

Use a laundry net

Use a laundry net for your bras to separate them and avoid any bent wires, stretched straps, or ripping of other clothes being washed with them. An added bonus is they also make finding all your underwear easier for folding and putting them away – genius.

Choose a delicate detergent

Go for a detergent that’s labeled as delicate or gentle and not chemical; this will do your intimates and you many favors. They are generally free of harsh chemicals like bleach, phosphates, or enzymes that can damage and break down certain fabrics but still get the job done.

Choose the right temperature

Higher temperatures do a much better job of killing bacteria and germs in the washing machine, so go for 60°C to wash your bras and panties. If your underwear is made from a delicate fabric, opt for 40°C.
