Instead, this independent, non-profit organization works with brands, suppliers, and other stakeholders in the textile industry to ensure compliance with social standards in clothing factories. We label products that contain recycled materials such as recycled cotton (30% or higher) and recycled polyester or nylon (50% or higher). Unlike conventional cotton, recycled cotton does not require fertilizers or pesticides, and water consumption is considerably lower. Non-biodegradable materials are given a second life through the use of recycled polyester or nylon. At the same time, they contribute to the reduction of natural gas and oil extraction needed for new production.
