This popular brand has a charming backstory and history. The company was founded back in 1886 in Amsterdam by Wilhelm Hunkemöller and his wife Josephina Lexis, as a speciality shop selling corsets and bustles. In the years that followed, this family-owned business expanded its reach and operations, opening stores in Utrecht and Rotterdam. In 1974, the company changed its name from “Hunkemöller Lexis” to just “Hunkemöller”. By 1977, the company had expanded to Belgium and then later into Germany. Today, the brand has stores all around Europe and the Middle East, and in 2019 launched its first store in Shanghai, China. They are a one-stop-shop for all things related to lingerie, underwear, sleepwear, swimwear, sportswear and accessories. Model and television personality Sylvie Meis was the company’s original spokes model, but since 2016 Dutch model Doutzen Kroes has been the face of the brand. This prestigious enterprise has been the recipient of many awards over the years, including Women’s Health Germany Award for Best Lingerie Brand and Best RETA (Retail Technology Award) in the category Best Customer Experience.
