Attach a new button
Is your button quite literally hanging on by a thread? Let’s fix that. Here’s a foolproof method to attach a new button.
1. Remove a hanging button with nail scissors if necessary.
2. Place the button where you want it.
3. Thread the needle and tie a knot at the end of it – it should be big enough to not slip through the fabric. It is better to use a longer thread of approx. 50 cm and cut the excess off.
4. Stitch the thread from the inside out and pull until the knot stops at the fabric.
5. Stitch the thread through the four button holes and fabric making an X shape, repeating at least 10 to 15 times to secure the button. Pull the thread tightly through the button hole until the end of the knot.
6. Secure it tightly on the inside by making a knot.
